The Roseville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) was organized in 1967 (fifty-five years ago), with a charter membership of 73.
In the 1980's the branch expanded to become the Roseville-South Placer (RSP) Branch.
Today, the branch is comprised of over 100 members including men and women from numerous South Placer communities including Granite Bay, Lincoln, Newcastle, Rocklin, and Roseville.
Our members work to bring the mission of AAUW to our own community. Through fund-raising, we are able to present outreach programs and workshops for students, fund multiple scholarships and honor local women making a difference in the lives of women and girls. In addition, the branch promotes fellowship and intellectual growth among members and offers a variety of opportunities to network, learn, and lead. The AAUW Roseville-South Placer Branch is a 501(c)3 tax deductible organization.

Since 1881, AAUW has encouraged more women to pursue higher education and careers in STEM and worked to narrow the gender pay gap and gain economic stability for women. The organization advocates for gender equity and critical issues affecting women and girls by supporting laws and policies that enable women's success, helping pass hundreds of pieces of legislation and supporting plaintiffs in gender equity legal cases.
AAUW's presence in California began in 1884 with the San Francisco branch and has grown to include nearly 12,000 members in 125 branches. Nationally, AAUW is a community of over 170,000 people. AAUW has been a leader in advocating for women’s rights and has played a critical role in several key milestones in women’s history, such as the passage of Title IX, the Equal Pay Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
