Our Branch has sent 52 girls to Tech Trek.

A rich and memorable experience awaits students who are chosen to participate in Tech Trek.

Tech Trek is a week-long residential math/science camp for girls entering the eighth grade, usually at Stanford. Our branch sponsors several girls each year and many have gone on to pursue science courses.

In 2007, a record number of 620 California students was chosen to attend this gratifying experience. This year technology instruction will increase due to a grant received to purchase laptops to use on campus.

AAUW California's Tech Trek Science Camp for girls expanded from six to seven weeks in 2008. To accommodate the number of girls receiving scholarships from AAUW branches, two Tech Trek camps will be held in successive weeks at Stanford University.

In 2009, our six branch scholarship recipients were chosen to attend Tech Trek. The middle schools represented are Springview, Glen Edwards, Eich, Twelve Bridges, Silverado and Buljan.

Dona Louzader reported that six girls were chosen to attend the Math-Science-Technology Camp at Stanford University  July 11th-July 17th in 2010.

Tech Trek Campers 2011

Lisa Beauchamp, the Camp Director at UN Davis, met with the

Roseville/South Placer campers prior to their attendance

at the new Tech Trek camp.  Lisa showed great enthusiam for the

camp and answered all questions so that the parents and girls were

comfortable and the campers were looking forward to their week at

     Tech Trek.

The  branch was able to send five girls this summer after the

fund raising efforts of Dona Louzader and Sally Altman and

    their committee.

One of our campers from 2008 has been chosen to be a Junior

Counselor at Stanford's Camp Curie this July.  This is a great

   honor.
