Branch AAUW Project

Our Branch offers scholarships to women who are returning to college at Sierra College and meet the following criteria:

 

  1. Must be enrolled in 12 units at the time of application
  2. Must be enrolled in 12 units at the time they receive the scholarship
  3. Must have a 3.0 GPA or better
  4. Must have completed 24 units at time they receive scholarship
  5. Must be a resident of Placer County, prefer South Placer County
  6. Must be re-entry women with financial need
  7. Must complete Budget Form
  8. We will interview and select the winner(s)

 

Sierra College scholarship applications for the 2010-2011 academic year are available December 2009. Deadline to apply for most of the scholarships offered is February 2010.

Update on our Scholarship Recipients

The fall semester is over for our two scholarship recipients, Nicholle
and Danielle. Both will be enjoying a short break before they move on.
Nicholle Sanford graduated with honors from Western Careers
College’s Dental Hygienist program on December 20. Danielle Rigney has wound up her semester in the Sierra College Registered Nursing Program on December 12th and will enjoy a three-week break and hopes to spend quality time with her family. Next semester Danielle will spend 4 weeks in the Geriatric ward, 4 weeks working in Mental Health, 4 weeks in Pediatrics and 4 weeks in the OB department. Sounds like a very busy semester ahead for her.

Women's Scholarship Recipient Announced

 

Cathleen (Cathy) Hankins is our new scholarship recipient. Cathy is a 47 year old single mother of three.

Her chosen field is Nursing. She has only two more required courses before applying for Sierra College's Nursing Program.

 

In describing herself, she says she is determined, giving, compassionate, and self-sacrificing. Congratulations Cathy!
