Is Equity Still An Issue?

BEHIND THE PAY GAP is the topic of the most recent RESEARCH STUDY (2007) published by AAUW. This topic has been high on the list of our Association's efforts over the years and, as we know, the wage gap persists.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Labor statistics, women working at full-time, year-round jobs earned only 77% of men's earnings as a whole. African American women earned only 67% and Hispanic women just 58 % of the average earnings of all males.

And even more alarming, while women have made remarkable strides in education during the past three decades, these gains have yet to translate into full equity in pay-even for college-educated women who work full time.

IS EQUITY STILL AN ISSUE?

You bet it is.
