From Cynthia Koger, Neighborhood Coordinator
"All members of AAUW are invited to attend one of the neighborhood groups. The groups were formed to have members meet other women who live close to them. The idea was that if women met once in a while and got to know each other they could share rides, attend AAUW events together and, of course, develop friendships. Neighborhoods were divided up geographically and have very casual borders. Over time, they each have developed their own personalities and are organized quite differently from the others. The members of the group each have a coordinator who maintains a schedule and sends information to the Neighborhood Chair to have it reported monthly in the Branch Lines. Each group decides how often they meet, what its activities will be, if there will be a hostess, and how the rest of the group will participate. Some examples of past events include: a sleep over in Tahoe to attend a concert and enjoy a picnic; carpooling to downtown Sac to enjoy the Lincoln Bicentennial exhibit; wine and cheese party; home brunches; soup party; lunching out at ethnic restaurants and sharing travel experiences; touring a winery and picnic on the patio; touring Whole Foods; exploring the Cancer Discover shop; and so much more."
Currently there are 5 groups who all have chosen to meet monthly. They are as follows:
Chairs:
Granite Bay/Loomis/Newcastle-Sally Altman
Sun City Roseville (Villages 7-13)-Edna Dorles
Sun City Roseville (Villages 1-6)-Connie Frank
Rocklin/Springfield-Jerri Yeager
Lincoln- Nora Charles and Maria Actis
Contact your Neighborhood Chair to become a member of the group.
