Here’s news of the six girls that we sent to
Stanford University’s Tech Trek Camp in 2003!
by Dona Louzader, Tech Trek Coordinator
Kourtney Clark from Silverado and Woodcreek has a Basketball and Academic Scholarship to become an elementary school teacher specializing in helping handicapped children.
Caitlin Stack of Silverado has two scholarships—one in Business and one in Physics. She is debating which one to accept, since she wants to combine the two areas of study.
Megan Kern of Springview has been accepted at Berkeley, Santa Barbara and Davis for a major in English Literature and Writing.
Haley Fleury, also of Springview, graduated one year early to achieve her goal of becoming a lawyer. She is now attending Sierra College, coached our girls this year for their Tech Trek interviews, works in a law office in Sacramento and plans to attend college in Monterey before she gets her graduate degrees in a school in New England.
Heather Lockwood of Glen Edwards Middle School in Lincoln has moved to Southern California.
Roya Rajabzadeh will attend University of Santa Barbara as a pre-med student. She plans to be a plastic surgeon specializing in facial reconstruction. Wow!
All of our girls recalled their wonderful experiences at Tech Trek and how it inspired them to make positive goals for their future. They were all impressed by the role models in industry and hope that they will also be successful women. I am certain they will be a positive force in our society!
